Church launches redesigned service

Beginning Wednesday, First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville is launching a redesigned, 30-minute worship service.

The service will feature the praise band, Four Legged Lambs, as well as multimedia.

Dinner will begin at 5:20 p.m. and is $5 with reservations required by noon Mondays, worship at 6:30 p.m. and a small group discussion and study at 7 p.m.

Church celebrates 54th anniversary

Trinity General Baptist Church, 252 Lime St., Dupo, will celebrate its 54th anniversary serivce at noon Sunday, followed by singing at 1:30 p.m. with Tim Hudson Singers of Pacific, Mo.

Renewal weekend being offered

St. George's Episcopal Church, 105 E. D St., Belleville, will host a renewal weekend Friday-Sept. 20 at the church.

Bishop Roger J. White will talk about issues facing the church and ways to renew faith in Christ.

The renewal weekend begins Friday at 7 p.m. with Evenson with Bishop White preaching followed by:

* 9-11:30 a.m. Sept. 19, continental breakfast and a question and answer session.

* 6-9 p.m. Sept. 19, potluck dinner and a question and answer session.

*8, 10:30 a.m. worship service Sept. 20 with Bishop White preaching.

Super Sunday campaign begins

First Baptist Church Fairview Heights will host six super Sundays high attendance campaign, a series of six emphasis Sundays, beginng with Friend Day on Sunday.

Kids, moms can study Bible

Bible Study Fellowship will begin with the study of the Gospel of John at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in O'Fallon.

There are classes for women and for preschoolers ages two through kindergarten.

Singer offers free concert at church

Jonathan Martin will be in concert at 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Grace Baptist Church, 2600 Edwards St., Granite City.

An encore performance will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Wilson Park Centennial Paviliion in Granite City.

Two celebrate anniversaries

Pastor Martin J. and Sister Harris are celebrating their ninth pastor anniversary Sunday after the 10 a.m. worship at New Christian Fellowship Church, 10090 Old Lincoln Trail, Fairview Heights.

Worship conference will occur

Harvest Conferences is hosting the Worship Conference from 8 a.m to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Troy United Methodist Church, 407 Edwardsville Road, Troy.

The conference is designed for church worship leaders, praise band and worship ministry teams.

J. D. Walt, dean of chapel andvice president for community life at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky., will lead two of the general sessions.

Speaker series will be offered

Troy Untied Methodist Church will present a free speaker series from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the church, 407 Edwardsville Road, Troy.

This Wednesday, a book discussion of "Three Simple Rules: a Wesleyan Way of Living" will be led by teaching Pastor Kurt Stone.

PolkaFest is set for Sept. 19

Faith Lutheran Church is hosting its annual PolkaFest at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 19 in the fellowship hall of the church, 520 E. Highway 50, O'Fallon.

Music will be provided by the Jolly Faith Oompah Band.

At 7 p.m., the Oompah Band will lead the annual polka communion service.

Dessert and coffee follow the service.

Take a walk through the Bible

Walk Through the Bible will present its New Testament seminar Sept. 27 at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah.

David Burch of Bloomington, Ill., is the presenter.

Session 1 is during the 8 or 10:30 a.m service, followed by lunch provided at the church. Afternoon sessions continue from 12:45 to 4:30 p.m.

Registration is $20 per person and includes the presentation, workbook, and lunch and is open to those in sixth grade through adult.

Church offers several programs

St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ, 307 W. Clay, Collinsville, is offering the following programs:

* Faith Walking, a walking program offered from 7 to 9 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations are accepted.

* Arthritis Foundation exercise program will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and ending Oct. 28. The cost is $30. Advance registration is required by calling 344-2526.

* A free senior seminar will be at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 30. Phillip Schorfheide, a geriatric nurse practitioner student at St. Louis University, will talk on "The Aging Process and the importance of exercise and nutrition for healthy aging."

* St. John Home & Community Care's Senior Wellness Day is from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 23. Flu and pneumonia shots will be offered, along with other organizations' booths.

Rock group will perform

The rock group AplogetiX (That Christian parody band) will perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Highland Hope United Methodist Church, 12846 Daiber Road, Highland.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

The band specializes in biblical parodies of classic and modern rock songs.

Church celebrates 50th anniversary

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 3025 National Ave., Granite City, will celebrate 50 years Sept. 20.

The first service was in the basement of the Wilson Avenue parsonage in August 1958, and was named Good Shepherd Evangelical United Brethren Church.

A ground-breaking ceremony occurred in July 1959 with the cornerstone ceremony in December 1959.
