Church celebrates 150th anniversary

St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Floraville is celebrating its 150th anniversary Sunday.

Service will begin at 10 a.m. and the celebration immediately follows. There will be food, music and a tent available.

The church was organized in January 1859 by six men. The church was dedicated in September 1859.

Blessing of the animals offered

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 406 Hillsboro Ave., Edwardsville, will offer the blessing of the animals at 5 p.m. Oct. 3 at the church.

The blessing will be on the south side of the church in the courtyard.

O'Fallon church hosts concert

Cornerstone Chorale and Brass will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Lutheran Church, 520 E. Highway 50, O'Fallon.

Donations will be taken.

Seminar offered for youth leaders

The Well, a seminar for youth ministry leaders, will be from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville.

Dr. Hal Hamilton is the presenter.

The seminar is for youth ministry leaders, youth pastors, team members and volunteers.

Southern gospel concert offered

A southern gospel concert with The Woodsmen Quartet from Batesville, Ind., will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Bethalto Church of God, 800 E. Bethalto Drive, Bethalto.

Shrine hosting two events

The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows will host the following:

* The ninth session of the 2009 Roundtable Series will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Visitors Center. The topic is "A Deeper Look at Mass: Looking at the Roots of Ritual" with Sister Catherine Vincie. Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Visit www.snows.org/roundtable for registration.

* A conference on mental illness, in conjunction with the Office of Apostolic Services from the Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Karla Smith Foundation, is offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Oct. 3 at the shrine. Church hosts Biker Sunday

Southpoint Church of God, Inc. will host its annual Biker Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at the church, two miles south of West Frankfort on Highway 37.

A complimentary barbecue dinner will follow the service.

Church celebrates 200th anniversary

Bethel Baptist of Caseyville will celebrate its 200th anniversary from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 3 with Frontier Days at the church, 10 Bethel Meadows Road, two miles south of Collinsville at the end of South Clinton Road.

Activities include craft demonstrations, pony rides, baby buffalo, bounce house, door prizes, music, historical displays and cemetery tour.

Lunch of barbecued buffalo is $5.

An anniversary service will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 at the Collinsville High School fine arts auditorium. Lunch will be catered by Ravenelli's at the Caseyville Community Center. Lunch is $10 and reservations are required by Monday. Call 345-4695 to make reservations.
