We’d like to suggest some Thursday night dinner plans for you, with the bonus that it is free and you could potentially save a life or our community’s well-being.
Racial Harmony is hosting a public forum, with complimentary food and beverages, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Belleville Parks and Recreation office, 510 W. Main St. in Belleville. The theme is “All Lives Matter! Protecting Our Future Together.”
This is the opening session for what is expected to be a long discussion. In the end there should be concrete goals for law enforcement, the courts, education, the clergy, business, political leaders and the public sector, said Jerril Jones, Racial Harmony’s executive director.
What shouldn’t happen is a finger-pointing session. We’ve seen the extreme example of where that leads in the burned shops of Ferguson.

What should happen is a talk that leads to understanding that leads to better behaviors. Think of it as taking a wrecking ball to our walls and using the rubble to build bridges.
Hope you can make it.
