Crime blotter 4/3/15

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of local law enforcement agencies and court clerks. Readers are reminded that an arrest or charge does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

ST. CLAIR COUNTY FELONIES

TUESDAY, MARCH 10

James A. Savage, 49, of 2313 Lincoln, East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of three counts of retail theft, subsequent on or about Feb. 5, March 6, March 7 and resisting a police officer on March 7 by Swansea police. Savage allegedly, took merchandise from Schnuck’s, 2665 N. Illinois St., Swansea, being 5 bottles of alcoholic liquor, total retail value not in excess of $300; being 4 bottles of alcoholic liquor, total retail value not in excess of $300; being 5 bottles of alcoholic liquor, total retail value not in excess of $300; knowingly resisted the performance of Keith Howard of an authorized act within his official capacity, being the arrest of James Savage, knowing Keith Howard to be a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties, in that he refused to be handcuffed. Defendant had been previously convicted of retail theft on May 22, 2002.

Lurreantus M. Mumphard, 24, of 8903 Old Bunkum Road, Fairview Heights, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance on or about March 7 by Alorton police. Mumphard allegedly, had in his possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine.

Brittany R. Davis, 19, of 2411 College Ave., Belleville, arrested on suspicion of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery on or about March 7 by St. Clair County sheriff. Davis allegedly, secretly confined Gerald Faughn against his will; made physical contact with Gerald Faughn, in that he bound Faughn’s hands behind his back with a belt, knowing Faughn to be an individual of 60 years of age or older.

Cornelius A. Wallace, 23, of 200 S. 3rd St., Lovejoy, arrested on suspicion of two counts of reckless discharge of a firearm on or about March 8 by East St. Louis police. Wallace allegedly, endangered the safety of Jasmine A. Owens in that, while acting in a reckless manner, he discharged a firearm and in so doing discharged the firearm over the head of Jasmine A. Owens.

James E. Shafer, 36, of 1711 Andrews Drive, Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and theft on or about Sept. 26, 2014 by Metro East Auto Theft Task Force. Shafer allegedly, had in his possession a substance containing hydrocodone; knowingly obtained control over stolen property of Goley Insulation, being two compressors, total value not in excess of $500 under such circumstances as would reasonably induce said defendant to believe the property was stolen.

Kevin Chaison, 24, of 708 N. 22nd St., East St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of aggravated domestic battery and three counts of domestic battery on or about Dec. 6, 2014 by East St. Louis police. Chaison allegedly, in committing a domestic battery, strangled Daviel Chaison, a family/household member, in that said defendant intentionally impeded the normal breathing of Daviel Chaison by grabbing and applying pressure to his neck; he kneed Daviel Chaison about her body; bit her on the back; slammed her head onto the floor.

Chase M. Eddings, 26, of 1301 Julie Ave., Cahokia, arrested on suspicion of residential burglary on or about March 8 by Cahokia police. Eddings allegedly, entered into the dwelling place of G.M., located in the 1300 block of St. Raphael, Cahokia, with the intent to commit theft therein.

Damon D. Mason, 43, of 5211 Gay, Centreville, arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass to a residence, two counts of domestic battery on or about March 8 by Centreville police. Mason allegedly, entered the residence of JTD, located int he 5200 block of Gay Ave., Centreville, at a time when said defendant knew than one or more persons were present in that residence; made physical contact with a family/household member, in that said defendant pulled her hair; struck her in the head.

Zachary S. Hoese, 23, of 5 Sherry Drive, O’Fallon, arrested on suspicion of theft on or about July 27, 2014 by O’Fallon police. Hoese allegedly, took proeprty of Plaza Wines and Liquors, being U.S. currency, total value in excess of $500, said offenses constituting a series of acts performed at different times in furtherance of a single intention and design.

Heather Siddell, 24, of 3741 Delor St., A, St. Louis, arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, two counts of resisting a police officer on or about March 8 by East St. Louis police. Siddell allegedly, in committing a battery, made physical contact with Teanna Gillespie, in that she spat on Teanna Gillespie knowing Teanna Gillespie to be a peace officer engaged in the performance of her authorized duties; knowingly resisted the performance of Teanna Gillespie of an authorized act within her official capacity, being the arrest of Heather Siddell, knowing Teanna Gillespie to be a peace officer engaged in the execution of her official duties, in that she refused to be handcuffed and booked, and the actions of the defendant were the proximate cause of the injury to Teanna Gillespie; knowingly resisted the performance of Johnny Boyd of an authorized act within his official capacity, being the arrest of Heather Siddell, knowing Johnny Boyd, to be a peace officer engaged in the execution of his official duties, in that she refused to be handcuffed.
