What qualifies you for this position?

“I’m a lifetime resident of Fairview Heights. In the Army, I gained invaluable leadership skills and experience in ways unique to the military, such as time management, asset allocation, stress management, conflict resolution, and personnel management and accountability. As a small business owner, I gained a new perspective on those leadership characteristics and developed new skills. As alderman, I earned practical experience, worked with staff during day-to-day operations, made tough legislative decisions and represented our residents. I actively serve local organizations, giving me another way to stay involved with our city and keep my finger on the pulse of community.”

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

“Focusing more on the residents and community. We have staff experts that handle infrastructure, economic development and legal issues. As elected officials, we’re responsible for making sure the people are served best and equally. We need an identity beyond being the place with the mall. We need to make our neighborhoods strong. I’m proposing city grants that give our residents the same help and incentives we give our businesses in the Business Assistance Program. We need to support current residents, market our city to new residents, offer programs that bring the community together and provide these programs without cutting services.”
