What qualifies you for this position?
“As an Air Force Data Automation officer, I dealt with large computer facilities. It was important I knew and understood fully the issues before me. As an alderman for 14 years, I had the same mind-set. Therefore, in order to understand the issues being considered I attended all committee meetings. This enabled me to make my own decision on what I felt was best and not rely on a committee’s recommendation on how to vote. I am not a: ‘go along to get along’ person.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“Finances. To address the city’s financial challenge the current city council is considering leasing the water/sewer departments. Without a doubt leasing the departments would provide a large infusion of money to the city’s coffers. However, what are the long-term effects? There are numerous questions that I need answers to before I would vote on any type of lease. I do not subscribe to; ‘We need to pass it in order to know what is in it’ approach. I want to know the long-term effects and what is best for O’Fallon residents BEFORE I vote not afterward.”
