What qualifies you for this position?

“I, like many others in our community have an interest in how the city is run and its future direction. We also care about our neighborhoods. Issues in my neighborhood led to restarting the Oakland Neighborhood Watch Association. As president, I initiated programs designed to bring neighbors together, improve safety and increase awareness to reduce crime in our area. Following great successes, many asked that I run for alderman. Having a long history of community service and volunteerism, I will combine all I have learned along the way to best represent the residents of Ward 1 and all of Belleville.”

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

“A top issue in our ward is the health of our neighborhoods and having effective representation. My focus is to be a more active and effective member of the council. Our concerns need to be heard. I will seek ways to limit the excess bickering that has caused far too many ideas and opinions to be overlooked and discounted. We have an active, vibrant community. I am proud to call it home. I want to protect what we have built for our families by supporting our local businesses, our families, and our service professionals we depend on: police and fire.”
