What qualifies you for this position?
“I want to bring the perspective of a businessperson to the city council. I am someone used to doing what it takes to get a job done, to rolling up my sleeves and solving problems. I want to bring more professionalism to a city council that is suffering from too much posturing and politics. We need to get past the arguing and find ways to work together as a team to tackle the issues facing our city. I also want to bring a realistic focus on the bottom line to the city’s budget process, making certain we prioritize our spending on the most important issues like crime prevention and street repair.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“The top issue in this race is simply put: we need more feet on the beat. For Belleville to continue to be the kind of community we want to live in and that will keep our children and grandchildren here, we need to protect our neighborhoods. That means we need to focus our resources on crime prevention, and that means we need more police cars in our neighborhoods. It also means more active neighborhood watch programs and more community support for law enforcement.”
