What qualifies you for this position?

“I have earned a professional arts — video production certificate from The Broadcast Center of St. Louis as well as an associate in arts degree from Southwestern Illinois College. I am currently employed at International Paper and have served on the company’s safety committee to help implement safe labor practices that affect the workers. In other professional positions, I have traveled nationally with video production crews and have also worked in the lawn care industry. Some may say that I am lacking the ‘traditional qualifications,’ but what I do not lack is the ambition and determination to stand up for the residents of Ward 4.”

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

“Crime has been an issue for too long in Ward 4. After walking door to door talking with residents I now firmly believe that crime is the number one issue. The vast majority of the residents I’ve talked to, many of them for a great length of time, have expressed to me their opinion to have the west end police station operational again. In addition, residents hope to see more police patrolling the neighborhood streets at night. I would like to see the people’s wishes become a reality. Reopening the west end police station, have more police patrolling the neighborhood streets, and enforcing the crime free housing laws would be a great start to bring the crime rate down in Ward 4.”
