What qualifies you for this position?
“I was born and raised in Belleville, and have lived in Ward 8 most of my life. Having previously served as alderman for 12 years, I am familiar with the challenges facing our city and have the experience and ability to work with others as a team in order to move the city forward. I am willing to return every phone call and work cooperatively with city departments so we can effectively address the concerns of residents and resolve problems quickly. I have also been honored to receive the endorsement of the South Western Illinois Central Labor Council.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“One of our biggest challenges is maintaining our city services and infrastructure in the face of shrinking tax dollars and delayed reimbursements from the state. We need to continue to attract businesses along the Route 15 and Frank Scott Parkway corridors, to generate the funds needed to improve our streets and hire more police officers to protect our citizens. We also need to maintain the quality of our housing stock through strong enforcement of housing codes and zoning ordinances, in order to increase our property values and make our city an attractive and safe place to live.”
