What qualifies you for this position?

“As an educator, parent and community member I bring an open minded and balanced approach to problem solving school issues. My work as a school psychologist over the past 15 years has afforded me insight into the inner working of the educational system. Mediating differing opinions and helping others problem solve is part of my daily job. Additionally, as a parent of four children in the district I have a vested interest in supporting staff and helping develop solid programs for our youth. Finally, as a community member I am motivated to help O’Fallon continue to draw businesses and citizens to our town.”

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

“O’Fallon District 90 faces a significant funding issue. The State of Illinois has drastically reduced general state aid funding. Schools, as a result, must rely increasingly on local property taxes to fund education. I believe District 90 needs to find innovative ways to obtain revenue to help strengthen and sustain educational programming in our schools. Without adequate funding we are in danger of losing residents to nearby communities creating vacant housing, decreased property values and eventually attenuating our tax base and further compromising educational funding.”
