What qualifies you for this position?

“I feel that I possess a unique set of skills. I am currently a school district central office administrator. I am well versed in a majority of topics on which the board will be making decisions. If elected, I will be able to explain the effect of decisions on the district/classrooms. I will also be able to assist in making decisions/adjustments that have the least impact on classroom instruction and educational programming. Additionally, having professional experience outside of education provides a well-rounded perspective in terms of addressing the difficult business decisions that districts must make.”

What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?

“The field of education has drastically changed over the last 10 years, from changes such as Response to Intervention, Common Core, a new teacher evaluation system and funding reductions. Districts are going to have to find a balance between reducing costs while providing teachers the support they need to provide adequate instruction. I believe that if I am elected to the board my current experiences equip me with the skills to work toward developing a long-range budget plan that accounts for a reduction in state funding, research ways to bring in additional revenue to the school district and maintain a rigorous academic program.”
