“I am an educator. I am an advocate for public education and the role it plays in a democratic society. Our democracy is dependent upon what takes place in our public education classrooms. Before serving in my current position as an assistant principal, I taught English and was the recipient of the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. I am a member of the Illinois Principals Association and the National Secondary School Principals. I have been continuously enrolled in education classes at SIUE as I constantly strive to increase my knowledge of public education and educational leadership.”
What is the top issue in your race, and how would you address it?
“The top issue is leadership in tough financial times. I know there remains many challenges for this board and this community. I have demonstrated that I have the experience and expertise required to to continue navigating this school district through tough financial times. I can make the tough decisions that are needed to keep this district on course to continued improvement in academic achievement. I will continue to provide steady leadership. I will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders and communicate with the citizens of this great school district.”
