The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for St. Clair, Randolph and Monroe counties until 1 a.m. Saturday.
Seven counties in east central and southeast Missouri are also under a tornado watch.
A watch means the conditions are right for a tornado to potentially form, but one has not been spotted yet. If a tornado has touched down, or is spotted, a tornado warning will be put in place.
