Grabbing a bite with Joey Wright

A new addition to Clinton Lake's marina began turning heads soon after opening in 2025.

And Shore House Bar and Grill has continued to draw folks to Weldon from far and wide as it continues its second season of operation.

"Great reception from the Clinton Lake boating community," operations manager Andrew Gipson said. "You can come right off the water, park your boat and walk up, or you can drive up to and park and come in. So you kind of get to us by land and sea."

Gipson credits Luxe Designs with giving the space an updated feel ahead of its launch, with a menu of wraps, burgers and sandwiches pairing with a detailed cocktail menu and a great view of the lake.

"The design is beautiful," Gipson said. "We have a large patio with seating that overlooks the lake. You can't really get a better view around here anywhere. We kind of dubbed it the vacation in central Illinois, or a vacation down the road is kind of what I've called it."

Shore House's season will run into fall, though its close date is dependent on the weather.

"The owner of the marina updated all of the marina and added permanent camping sites everywhere," Gipson said.
