Club News: Information about metro-east club meetings for May 7-13


▪ PSOP Book Club — The next meeting is 10 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at the PSOP Building, 201 N. Church St., Belleville. The book title this month is “The Forgotten Garden” by Kate Morton. Club discussion leader will be Denise Sechrest.

▪ Belleville Metro-East Christian Women’s Club — The next meeting of the Women’s Club will be from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, May 10, at Bellecourt Place, 120 N. Jackson. The program is “Spring Cleaning Luncheon” and the guest will share cleaning tips. Martha Heinhorst of Mohomet will share, “Joy When Happiness is Gone.” The cost is $13. Metro-East Real Estate Investors Association — The association’s monthly meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the American Legion Post 365, 1022 Vandalia St., Collinsville. There is a $20 guest fee. Information: 618-877-6352.

East St. Louis

Old Grads of East St. Louis Senior High School — This group will have a picnic for all graduates who have celebrated their 50th year anniversary from East St. Louis High School and their families at noon June 3 at the O’Fallon Community Park Pavilion 4, 401 E. 5th St., O’Fallon. Reservations are due by Monday, May 15. The cost for this event is $10 per person. Information: 618-476-4635.

East St. Louis Class of 1947 — The eight surviving members of the class of 1947 are expected to celebrate with a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. May 18 at 49 Woodhaven Court, Belleville. Previous luncheons were held at Fischer’s, which has since closed. The class is also welcoming children and surviving spouses of the 1947 graduates. Madison County Genealogical Society — The Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Edwardsville Public Library, 112 S. Kansas St., Edwardsville. Mary Truitt, a retired teacher, will talk about the National Road. Guests are welcome at this event.
