Breaking the mold yet again, Smash Mouth is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its debut album with a concert at the Wildey Theatre, a smaller venue in Edwardsville.
Two of the band’s original members, vocalist Steve Harwell and bassist and backing vocalist Paul De Lisle, are part of the concert at 8 p.m. Sept. 1 at the 326-seat theater. Tickets go on sale online at 10 a.m. Friday at www.wildeytheatre.com. All seats are $48.50 reserved; there is a four-ticket per-order limit.
Smash Mouth released “Fush Yu Mang” in 1997, which included “Walkin’ on the Sun.” The album went double platinum.
Since then, Smash Mouth’s music has been included in films including “Shrek” and “The Jungle Book 2.” It has seven albums, including the last album, “Magic,” released in 2012.
