Rector’s Forum at St. George’s Episcopal Church

Metro-east Interfaith Book Study
The Metro-east Interfaith Book Study has two groups studying “Abraham: One God, Three Wives, Five Religions” by Frances Worthington. A day group meets from 2-3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, Oct. 11, 18, and 25, at Forbes Insurance, 9805 Foley Drive, Belleville. An evening group meets from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 12, 19 and 26, at the Community of Christ Church, 350 Tamarack Drive, Shiloh. Calvary Lutheran Church dinner and sock collection
In honor of the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation, the Calvary Lutheran Church, 6606 W. Main Belleville, will have a German dinner from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10. The menu will include bratwurst, mashed potatoes and gravy, more side options, drinks and German desserts for $5.
Calvary Lutheran is asking the public to donate new black or white socks to send to military men and women overseas. Sock collection boxes are located at The Abbey, the Associated Bank at 6902 W. ‘Taking Care of Me’ Bonanza for Women
Church Women United is currently selling tickets for its “Taking Care of Me” Bonanza for Women that will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Granite City Township Hall. No tickets will be sold at the door. The cost is $5 and includes breakfast and lunch. This event features speakers, attendance prizes, vendors, exhibits and vendor prizes. ‘The Woman Behind the Reformation’ presentation
Blessed Savior Lutheran Church will have a presentation about Martin Luther’s wife, Katherina von Bora, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1205 N. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon.
