Touchette Regional Hospital will have “Mammothon,” a three-day breast cancer screening event to provide mammograms, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Oct. 19 and 20, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at 5900 Bone Ave., Centreville. No woman will be turned away due to inability to pay and financial assistance will be available to women who need help with co-pays or are uninsured. This event is part of Touchette’s Start Now Breast Cancer Awareness program, funded by Susan G. Komen Missouri and the Avon Breast Health Outreach Program. To schedule a mammogram, call 618-332-6130. Bone marrow registration drive
Allen Dorsey, a metro-east businessman and cancer survivor, and Be the Match are sponsoring a bone marrow registration drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Wisper ISP, 9711 Fuesser Road, Mascoutah. All community members are encouraged to participate, especially minorities. The current ethnic makeup of the bone marrow registry is 61 percent Caucasian, 10 percent Hispanic, 6 percent African American and Asian and 4 percent mixed race.
‘Experience Dyslexia: A Learning Disabilities Simulation’
Lindenwood-Belleville students in the Future Educators Association will facilitate simulations to help participants understand what it’s like to have dyslexia at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Children’s Dyslexia Center, 1549 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville. The fee is $15 and registration is required by Oct. 23. Funds raised from this event will go to the Children’s Dyslexia Center. Organization of Competition Bodies Heartland Classic
The Organization of Competition Bodies Federation will have what they believe to be Belleville’s first natural bodybuilding competition, the OCB Heartland Classic, on Nov. 4 at the Lindenwood University Auditorium, 2600 W.
