What’s out there: Scarves, shakers and Irish dishes

BRIGHT DESIGNS: Here is one sure way to add some color to a dreary winter: Stop in Whimsey Gifts in downtown Lebanon and check out the collection of work from Brazilian-born sculptor and artist Romero Britto. Think Pop Art, Matisse and Picasso as influences in color and style. The set of apple salt and pepper shakers shown here are $24.99, while a teapot costs about $50. Smaller miniature figures are $15, plus you’ll find lunch and big totes, wallets and more with his vivid and varied designs. Whimsey Gifts is at 210 W. St. Louis St.

IRISH DESIGNS: At Legendary Creations in downtown Lebanon, the luck of the Irish will be with you when you stop to admire the beautiful ceramic plates, platters and cake stands embellished with Celtic knots and Claddagh designs from Grasslands Road. The handles are sculpted ceramic and the plates are finished in translucent pearlized cream with antique green. Prices range from $16.50 to $52.50. The shop is at 206 W. St. Louis St.

BRIGHT SCARVES: There is no shortage of bright fashion ideas at Basket Case Boutique in downtown Lebanon. The shop’s manager and buyer Donelle Gress fills the space with beautiful tops, jewelry and other accessories. Need a pretty scarve to liven up a workday suit or add to jeans and a top? For $12, you can choose from a variety of lightweight fabric and patterns. The shop is at 215 W. St. Louis St.
