The popular show that will take you somewhere over the rainbow opened Monday night at the outdoor theater in Forest Park. It’s on stage at 8:15 each evening through June 22.

The stage production, based on Frank Baum’s book, as well as the 1939 MGM classic movie, was commissioned for the Muny anf first performed there in 1942. The cast includes Danielle Bowen as Dorothy, Kevin Cahoon as The Scarecrow, Nicholas Rodriguez as The Tin Man and Stephen Wallem as The Lion. PJ Benjamin, who plays Professor Marvel and the Wizard of Oz, got his start at the Little Theater in Sullivan. He was the Wizard in “Wicked” on Broadway and on tour.
