Roger Homeier has been named the Belleville East High School Bus Driver of the Year in an award announced by the school recently.

The award was sponsored by the Belleville East McDonald's and goes to a driver selected by Belleville East Assistant Principal Bruce Perkins and the supervisory staff at First Student Transportation.

Homeier has been driving for First Student for six years.

Hospice of Southern Illinois Inc., in Belleville, announced that Amanda Raney, RN, of Belleville, has been hired as a staff nurse.

Jason Baldus, of Collinsville, a financial representative with The Gilliland Financial Group, of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, has been named the number one College Unit Director in the nation for the 2008-09 awards year.

Bob Corcoran, founder of Corcoran Consulting & Coaching and an author, will be the featured speaker at the Colorado Association of Realtors annual convention in October.

Also, eight of Corcoran Consulting & Coaching's clients were named America's top real estate professionals by the Wall Street Journal, REAL Trends and Lore.

Les Schweiss, a Farmers Insurance agent in Swansea, has been inducted into the Farmers' "Topper Club" and was invited to attend the 2009 annual meeting of Farmers' top sales producers.

Karen Simons, chief deputy U.S. marshal for the Southern District of Illinois, received a distinguished honorable mention as a nominee for the 2009 Women in Federal Law Enforcement Award. She was nominated for her level of performance and as a role model for other women in law enforcement.

Jim Maher, of the Maher Group of Merrill Lynch, was the winner of the Professional Advisor 2009 Legacy Awards. The award was presented by the St. Louis Planned Giving Council, through Leave a Legacy St. Louis.
