New bar and grill coming to Lebanon

A downtown Belleville business owner has plans to revitalize a former restaurant in Lebanon.

Scott Schmelzel, co-owner of Big Daddy's 618 at 313 E. Main St., said he has partnered with investor Timothy Keeley, of Keeley & Sons Inc. in East St. Louis, to establish a new bar and grill at 115 St. Louis St., where Mama Gustos Pizzeria had operated until recently. Schmelzel will call his new place Duke’s Hub Pub & Grill and will feature a menu that caters to large portions of chicken wings, half-pound burgers and more. He also plans to operate outside at an adjacent patio. Duke’s is scheduled to open by May 1.

The Olympic Restaurant in Belleville will temporarily close after 1 p.m. Sunday to relocate to Swansea. The establishment is getting a new address and a new name. The business will reopen the next day, March 30, at 127 North Belt East and will be renamed Olympika Bar & Grill.

The folks from Picture Eye Gallery in Belleville want customers to know that they plan to reopen after a car recently crashed into their building at 948 E. Main St. and caused extensive damage. The picture framing business plans to reopen at some point, but the time has yet to be determined. In the meantime, you can reach owners Bob and Jill DeFrates at 618-233-6950.

And finally, the Skyview Drive-In opens for the season on Friday night. Call 618-344-9375 or visit online at www.skyview-drive-in.com to find what’s playing and for show times.
