Police say they’re looking for a Shiloh man who allegedly stole some money at a gas station last month.
Shiloh Police Department identified the man as Eric N. Davis, 37. The St. Clair County state’s attorney’s office charged Davis with one felony count of subsequent theft on Tuesday.
Police believe Davis was the suspect who reached behind a counter inside a Circle K gas station after midnight on Aug. 14 and took what police described as “a small amount of cash.”
The report was made at 2411 Lebanon Ave., the same location where an attempted armed robbery was reported a little more than a week ago. Det. Sgt. Jesse Phillips said police are still asking for the public’s help in that case to identify the two men who had appeared on surveillance images showing the suspects inside the store with a gun.
“The two cases are completely unrelated, though it’s not unusual for us to be there (at the gas station) fairly frequently,” Phillips said.
Davis was identified as a suspect in the Aug. 14 case during a Shiloh police investigation and was taken into custody four days after the alleged theft. Police said Davis had been released pending further investigation. The case was then submitted to the St. Clair County state’s attorney’s office for review.
The charge was issued Tuesday, and Davis’ bail was set at $40,000. Police said the man was at large.
Anyone with information regarding Davis’ whereabouts is asked to contact Shiloh police at 618-632-9047.
