A house fire is under investigation after Belleville firefighters quickly put out the flames late Thursday at 115 South Woodcrest Drive.
There were no casualties, no injuries, and “no living materials” like furniture or clothes at all, according to Deputy Fire Chief Bud Jacobs. The house appeared to be abandoned.
Firefighters responded to flames shooting out of the roof, entered the building, and put the blaze out within five minutes, Jacobs said.
The fire started on the second floor in what looked like an attic that had been converted into a bedroom, he said.

Three fire trucks were still on scene after the fire, with one still blocking the entry to South Woodcrest so cars wouldn’t run over the crew’s fire hose, which was connected to a hydrant at the intersection with Lebanon Road.
A noticeable chunk of the roof was missing from the middle of the tree-shaded structure, and small window was also punched out.
