A 27-year-old man was being sought by police in O’Fallon after he allegedly cut his girlfriend with a knife on Thursday night.
O’Fallon Police Department identified the suspect as Martin A. Contreras-Jimenez, who was not in custody as of Friday afternoon. Contreras-Jimenez was charged with aggravated domestic battery and attempted aggravated battery with use of a deadly weapon. His bail was set at $40,000.
Capt. James Cavins said the suspect’s girlfriend, a 22-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital.
“She sustained a significant cut to one of her arms, but it was non-life-threatening,” Cavins said.

Police said the woman was attacked Thursday in the 100 block of Booster Road in O’Fallon, where the suspect lived with his girlfriend.
Cavins said the suspect should be considered “armed and dangerous.” Police said he is known to frequent the Fairmont City and Madison areas and was last seen in a mid- to late-1990s Chevrolet pickup with a white camper shell and a picture of the Virgin Mary on the back window.
Contreras-Jimenez was described by police as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-8, weighing 165 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
