Memorial Hospital will soon begin construction on a $25 million medical office building next to the new Memorial Hospital East in Shiloh.

The three-story, 70,500-square-foot building is expected to be finished late next year.

The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board on Tuesday unanimously approved Memorial’s request to construct the office building.

Doctors who now have offices in Memorial Hospital East are expected to move into the new office building, said Anne Thomure, a spokeswoman for Memorial. The new office building also will offer imaging, laboratory and physical/occupational and speech therapy services.

Constructing a medical office building on this campus has been part of our long-term plan to meeting the community’s needs.

Swansea-based Holland Construction Services will build the office building.

The $124 million Memorial Hospital East opened in April at 1404 Cross St. The 94-acre site is at the intersection of Frank Scott Parkway and Cross Street. The hospital includes 72 medical/surgical suites, 16 obstetrics suites and six intensive care unit beds.

“The community has been very receptive and complimentary of the services provided by Memorial East since we opened in April,” said Mark J. Turner, president of Memorial Regional Health Services Inc., in a news release. “Constructing a medical office building on this campus has been part of our long-term plan to meeting the community’s needs.”

Memorial Hospital opened in Belleville at 4500 Memorial Drive off Frank Scott Parkway in 1958. Memorial Regional Health Services is a non-profit organization jointly governed by Memorial and BJC HealthCare and it is the parent organization of Memorial Hospital and Memorial Hospital East.
