Major Case Squad activated in St. Clair County

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated in St. Clair County, officials said Friday afternoon.

Capt. Dennis Plew of the Cahokia Police Department said investigators were “just now starting to gather information” on the case. Plew said authorities are investigating a death in the Parkfield Terrace area, located in unincorporated Cahokia.

A body was found Friday morning in the Judith Drive area, according to police.

Authorities did not release further details of the case.

Police have investigated a few homicide cases in previous years that were reported near Parkfield Terrace.

In November 2015, the Major Case Squad was called out to investigate after a body was found in a home on Amelia Drive. Deputies said the victim was a 46-year-old identified as Jermion D. Conley. Conley was shot, according to authorities.

The Major Case Squad also investigated in Parkfield Terrace after a shooting that left one person dead in February 2014. William Harriel Jr. was found dead with a single gunshot to the back of his head in the middle of Amelia Drive. Mohammed Abuharba was found guilty of Harriel’s murder in April.
