Police are searching for the man who is seen in this video at first purchasing items but then displaying a gun and robbing the Casey's General Store in Hartford Friday evening.

Someone robbed the Casey’s General Store on North Delmar Avenue in Hartford Friday evening.

According to a statement from the Hartford Police Department, a man armed with a black and silver handgun brandished the gun and demanded cash from the clerk.

The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands.

In addition to an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect left the scene with other items that police did not describe. The suspect was last seen running south from the store toward the intersection of Rand and Delmar avenues.

Police described the suspect as a black man of average build who stands between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-9. The suspect has long dreadlocks and black facial hair. He wore a light brown jacket, dark athletic pants, red shoes and a gray and black White Sox baseball cap.

According to an Illinois State Police emergency radio message that was broadcast shortly after the robbery occurred, a search of the area with K-9 units was underway.
