An elementary school student suffered minor injuries Friday after he was struck by a car in Highland.
According to Highland Police Officer Kenneth McCoy, the student and a relative were crossing Lindenthal Avenue on Friday afternoon after school let out when a motorist traveling east on Lindenthal struck the student.
McCoy said the car's mirror hit the boy’s head. The boy was taken to a doctor by his family.
McCoy added that the student and the relative were not using a crosswalk at the time.
The motorist received a citation.
In response to the incident, the Highland Police Department announced it would conduct “heavy traffic enforcement” in school zones.
