The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents who have campers stored at a facility away from their home to check to make sure the trailer has not been stolen.
According to a news release, the sheriff’s office is investigating the theft of three camper trailers. Investigators believe the trailers were stolen Nov. 19 or Nov. 20. Two of the trailers were taken from an exterior storage facility in the 400 block of Tolle Lane in Godfrey, while another camper was taken from 3000 block of VFW Lane in Collinsville.
The missing campers are a 32-foot white Jayco trailer with eagle emblems and maroon and blue-gray striping with Illinois registration 543 433, which is valued at $50,000; a gray Open Range 40-foot, fifth-wheel trailer with an Illinois registration, which is valued at $55,000; and a brown 32-foot Jayco trailer with a mountain scene painted on the front with Illinois registration 650 603, valued at $25,000.
Investigators believe the trailers were all taken on the same day, and it’s possible that all three thefts are connected. Police encourage those who store their campers at a remote location to use a facility that is equipped with surveillance cameras and uses a coded entry.
