At least one person died in a multiple-vehicle crash Saturday in Clinton County.
Clinton County Coroner Phillip Moss confirmed the death of 19-year-old Marissa Flanagan, of Vernon, who was driving east when her vehicle collided head-on with another vehicle.
The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls of the crash, which occurred on new U.S. 50 at about 3:15 p.m. The crash happened between Trenton and Aviston.
First-responders found three vehicles involved in the crash. At least two other people were taken to hospitals. Information about their condition was not immediately available Saturday evening.
Rescue crews reportedly called for a medical helicopter to land at the scene, but the helicopter unit declined the request due to weather problems.
Emergency radio transmissions indicated there was at least one person unconscious. A witness reported seeing a blanket draped over one person.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether road conditions were a factor, but there were reports of a thin layer of ice forming on roads in the area.
An investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing.
