The metro-east saw 9 inches of rain in nine days, according to the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

The measurements, taken at Downtown St. Louis Airport in Cahokia, show that 9.14 inches of rain fell there over the past nine days, going back to April 27.

Here are the daily totals:

▪  April 27 — 1.49 inches

▪  April 28 — 0.00 inches

▪  April 29 — 1.21 inches

▪  April 30 — 2.96 inches

▪  May 1 — 0.83 inches

▪  May 2 — 0.00 inches

▪  May 3 — 0.03 inches

▪  May 4 — 2.02 inches

▪  May 5 — 0.60 inches

The measurements were taken at 7 a.m. on each day. So, for example, the April 27 reading shows rain that fell from 7 a.m. on April 26 until 7 a.m. on April 27.

“None of the three systems that moved through were out of the ordinary,” said Patrick Walsh, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in St. Louis. “We just got three in a row.”

April saw 8.98 inches of precipitation, Southern Illinois University observed in Belleville. This was 5 inches more than the 3.84 inches observed in April 2016.
