Collinsville police were told that a man just after noon on Friday was at Swing City Music and can be seen taking a snare drum.

Swing City Music is offering a $50 gift card to anyone who can help identify a man in a surveillance video they claim stole a snare drum on Friday around noon in Collinsville.

Art Risavy, store manager, said the man came into the store Friday and told employees he did not need any assistance.

“He went to the drum area, picked up a few snares, found the one he was looking for and headed straight for the door,” he said.

Risavy said once he realized what was going on he went outside to confront the man. However, by the time he got out there the man was driving away.

“We are offering an in-store gift card simply because the owner does not want this to happen to another business,” he said.

Collinsville Police Department did not immediately return a call for comment.

Risavy said his father, Art Risavy Sr., has run the store for approximately 53 years.

“We have had such a good response — so many musicians have reached out to us and shared our video,” Risavy said. “It’s just been an overwhelming response.”

He said the store sells music equipment, sound systems for places like schools and churches and offers music lessons.

“We are really excited so many people reached out to use and shared it so we are hoping that this doesn’t happen to someone else,” Risavy said.
