A 24-year-old Belleville man accused of choking, beating and cutting a woman is facing a slew of felony charges in St. Clair County.
Joshua L. Baum is accused of choking the woman by pressing his arm into her neck May 5. He also hit the woman in the face, threw her to the ground and used a knife to cut her arm, according to charges. Baum allegedly damaged the woman’s cell phone and also caused as much as $300 worth of damage to a hotel room in the Mid America Inn on Old Illinois 158 in Belleville.
Baum faces two counts of aggravated domestic battery, a class 3 felony; two counts of domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and two counts of criminal damage to property, a class A misdemeanor.
A preliminary hearing for Baum was set for Friday.
