A woman was fatally shot by a police officer Wednesday in St. Louis, according to KMOV.
Just before noon, a 50-year-old woman was reportedly firing a gun outside a house in the Holly Hills neighborhood, in the 3600 block of Wilmington Avenue.
When police arrived, officers demanded she drop the gun, but the woman continued to fire shots, according to KMOV. After the woman refused to drop her weapon, one officer fired several shots, striking and killing the woman.
A preliminary investigation shows the woman may have been firing shots during a family disturbance. No officers or bystanders were injured, but two vehicles near the scene sustained damage, KMOV reported. Police found a minimum of 10 spent shell casings recovered from the woman’s weapon.
