A 33-year-old Fairview Heights man allegedly choked his pregnant girlfriend until she lost consciousness, according to three felony charges filed this week.
Brandon J. Jackson used his hands to choke the woman, also striking her, on May 5, the charges allege.
Jackson faces one count each of aggravated domestic battery, a Class 2 felony; aggravated battery to a pregnant woman, a Class 3 felony; and domestic battery, a Class 4 felony.
A judge set Jackson’s bail at $25,000. As of Thursday afternoon he had not posted bond, according to Tim Mueller, Fairview Heights Police Department spokesperson.

As a part of the bail agreement, Jackson will have to stay away from the victim for 72 hours after he is released from jail, Mueller said.
“They do that to give the victim a chance to seek a new place to live or request an order of protection,” he said.
Mueller did not know how far along the woman was in her pregnancy, but he did say the victim was showing.
“They are romantically involved; they have a child in common,” he said. “ ... She complained of injuries to her neck. EMS was on scene and checked her out, but she declined transport to a hospital.”
