Troy Mayor Al Adomite did a face-plant Friday morning while roller skating — on live TV.

Adomite took part in a segment on Fox 2 News that featured Troy. During the segment, Adomite joined skaters at a rink in Troy, and made a lousy attempt at a spin move. It ended with a clumsy, arms-flailing fall.

But the mayor took it in stride. He posted the video to Facebook, stating: “Thanks to Fox 2’s John Pertzborn and Randi Naughton for making my skating famous this morning! You won’t see me on Wide World of Sports anytime soon.”

Adomite’s Facebook friends commended him. One wrote: “Is there anything you won’t do for Troy?”

Adomite, in an interview later Friday, said: “Any time we can bring attention to the city of Troy, we’re going to try. I’ve done crazier things — I’ve been on the front page of the Belleville News-Democrat in a polyp costume.”

Adomite donned the costume a few years ago as part of an effort to raise awareness of colon cancer.

The mayor said he suffered no injuries in the skating mishap.

“I’m not injured,” he said. “My ego might be a little bruised, but my bottom is not.”
