Police were investigating the shooting death of a 34-year-old man who was found dead on Union Street after 4 a.m. Sunday morning.

Alton Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of Union Street to a report of gunshots at approximately 4:13 a.m., Lt. Jarrett Ford said in a news release.
