Belleville police respond to armed robbery at gas station

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery Monday night at a Circle K convenience store on North Belt West.

Two male suspects entered the store at 3801 North Belt West shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to Detective Sgt. Todd Keilbach. One of the suspects took two beers from a cooler and placed them on the counter to check out. The other suspect walked out of the store. It’s unclear if the two came to the store together, but they did enter the store at the same time, Keilbach said.

After the suspect placed the beers on the counter, he implied he had a weapon and demanded an employee give him money from the cash register. While the man was demanding money, the employee managed to call 911. The subject fled without getting any money from the store.

The suspect never displayed a weapon and the employee was unhurt.

The suspect who demanded money is described as a black male in his mid-30s, wearing a blue shirt, approximately 5-foot-6, with short hair and tattoos on both arms. The man who left the store first is described as a black male in his late 20s with facial hair, a thin build, approximately 5-foot-9 and wearing a black shirt.
