Maryville police were asking for the public’s help Wednesday in identifying a man they say thanked an employee after robbing a Circle K gas station.

According to a post on the agency’s Facebook page, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at 1:26 a.m. Wednesday at 6559 N. Center St.

Witnesses described the suspect as a black man approximately 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 with a medium to heavy build. He was wearing a black, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, a red baseball cap, sunglasses and black shoes.

Police said he showed a small black handgun to store employees and ran off with an undisclosed amount of money — but not before telling the employee, “Thank you. Have a good day,” according to Maryville Police Chief Rob Carpenter.

“This suspect should be considered armed and dangerous,” the release stated.

Police were asking anyone with information about the robbery or the man’s identity to contact Sgt. Brandon Ponce at 618-344-8899.
