Police seek person of interest in Alton shooting death

Police are working to find a second person who may have been involved in the death of Derrance G. Taylor in Alton on Sunday.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has identified Dejuan J. Bean Jr., 23, as a person of interest in the case. Bean is being sought for questioning by investigators.

Police found Taylor, 34, dead in the roadway on Union Street in Alton around 4 a.m. Sunday after they responded to gunshots. Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene, of a fatal gunshot wound.

Cameron D. Matlock, who has been charged in Taylor’s death with first-degree murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon charges, still has not been caught, according to a news release.
