Alton detectives don new vests thanks to local donation

Eight Alton detectives are donning new Kevlar vests, thanks to a cash donation from Fast Eddie’s Bon Air tavern.

Alton Lt. Jarrett Ford, chief of detectives at the Alton Police Department, told the Telegraph that these vests would not have been possible without the donation. He added the previous vests that detectives wore were more than a decade old.

Ed Sholar Jr., owner-manager of Fast Eddie’s, donated $2,500 that went toward the $7,600 needed to purchase the vests.
