Motorcyclist dies in Greene County accident

A 68-year-old Hillview man died Sunday evening after being ejected from his motorcycle on U.S. 67 in Greene County.

Illinois State Police said Robert Wear was riding his Honda motorcycle on northbound U.S. 67 just north of 1700 North when he crossed over the center lane line for an unknown reason and struck the side of a Dodge van driving south.

Wear was pronounced dead at the crash.

The driver of the van was Matthew Humphrey, 34 — his three passengers included Lisa Humphrey, 33, and two children. All were uninjured.

The roadway there was closed for a little less than six hours. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

White Hall Police Department, Carrollton Police Department, Roodhouse Police Department, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, White Hall Fire Department, Carrollton Fire Department, Greene County Coroner and IDOT assisted ISP with the crash response and investigation.
