Live thoroughbred horse racing at Fairmount Park scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. has been canceled due to expected violent weather, including lightning, according to spokesman John Sloane.
Sloane said that because lightning was expected, which could be dangerous for jockeys, spectators and horses, management decided to cancel Saturday’s seven-race card.
Live racing will resume Tuesday at 1 p.m. with another scheduled set of seven races.
