Police ID body of teen shot multiple times in East St. Louis

Police went to the 1200 block of Baker Avenue on Saturday morning and found the body of a teenager who had been shot multiple times laying on the ground outside of a residence there.

“When officers arrived, they found the body of a 19-year-old black male,” East St. Louis Police Capt. Bobby Cole said.

St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the victim as Michael A. Lee, of St. Louis. Dye said Lee had been shot multiple times. He said an autopsy will be done Monday morning.

Dye said neighbors reported hearing gunshots about 2:30 a.m. and went outside to look, but saw nothing. Later that morning, neighbors discovered Lee’s body. He was pronounced dead by the St. Clair County Coroner’s office at 7:20 a.m. Saturday, Dye said.

Police have no suspects or a motive. Cole said a police investigation is ongoing. Illinois State Police are also a part of the investigation.
