Troy photographer to highlight first responders, military in portrait series

A Troy photographer is taking free portraits of first responders or military personnel to celebrate and honor what they do for the Fourth of July.

Garon Cooper said he’s always had respect for the first responders and military who put themselves in harms way to protect people like himself.

That’s why he decided to start the portrait project. Until the end of June, Cooper is taking free photos of any active military or first responders. Anyone who participates will get to keep the images and will be a part of a slideshow highlighting metro-east first responders and military.

“I wanted to bring my art to say thank you to the military and first responders,” Cooper said. “It’s been pretty fun so far, so I’m looking forward to keeping it going.”

If you’re interested in being a part of Cooper’s project, contact him at 314-514-5543, on Garon Photo and Cinema’s Facebook page or through email at
