Federal investigators have located the car in which a visiting Chinese scholar at the University of Illinois was last seen earlier this month, according to the Champaign News-Gazette. The woman is still missing.
Surveillance footage showed 26-year-old Yingying Zhang getting into a black Saturn Astra four-door hatchback after exiting a bus in Urbana on June 9. An FBI spokesman declined to specify where the car was found, citing an ongoing investigation.
Zhang, who is from Jianyang, China, was about a month into a yearlong appointment researching photosynthesis and crop productivity at the University of Illinois.
The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the location of Zhang. Anyone with information can call 1-800-225-5324.
