A man and a woman were unloading items from a car early Wednesday morning when two men approached them with a gun and stole the vehicle, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The man was shot in the leg and then the two suspects fled in his car from the home in the 5400 block of Forest Creek Drive, according to the newspaper. The woman called the police from inside her home.

Police chased the suspects in the stolen vehicle until the carjackers crashed in Bel-Ridge and fled. One of the carjackers was apprehended, but police continued Wednesday to search for the other.

About 10 minutes later, three other carjackers stole two vehicles from a home in the 5400 block of Forest Creek Drive, about a half-mile from the first carjacking, according to the Post-Dispatch. No one was injured in the second carjacking.

Police were investigating to determine if the carjackings are connected.
