The site plan for Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, a Kansas-based restaurant company, was approved by the Collinsville Planning Commission on Thursday, according to the city’s Facebook page.
The location will be in front of Home Depot, which is near the intersection of Interstates 55 and 255.
The new restaurant will be 2,600 square feet, according to David Brookless, the director of community development for Collinsville. After the original design was submitted, the city asked Freddy’s to redesign the establishment to use more brick so it would blend in more with the surrounding area, Brookless said.
The city accepted the new design, and the next step is to apply for a building permit, Brookless said.

Most of the red-and-white themed restaurants also have outdoor seating, according to the company, which describes itself as “family-oriented.”
“It’s all about optimism, patriotism and the upbeat values of our great country and its greatest generation,” the company states.
Freddy’s already has one restaurant in the metro-east, in Shiloh, which opened in June of last year.
